Subtide

Hello everyone, welcome to my subtide project page!

  I've always dreamed of publishing a novel written by myself. Now I'm working hard on it. The novel is based on my own experiences. From my happy time in junior high school with my classmates and my ex-girlfriend, through the COVID-19 pandemic and the high school entrance exam, and the first half of my high school life. It's not a very long period of time, but my novel might be long. I planned to write about 10w words. It may turn out to be longer than I expected.

  So why did I title my novel 'Subtide'? 'Sub-' here has the same meaning as in the word 'subset', not as in the word 'subway'. In Chinese, I called it 思汐, which means 'the tide at night'. It's an analogy to illustrate the minds, thoughts, ideas and feelings of our students now. We are the people of tomorrow, so our thoughts, feelings, opinions and insights will truly contribute to the main trend in the world of tomorrow, which can profoundly change human society. Subset is part of set; subtide is part of tide. It's the thoughts and opinions of a group of students who can reflect on all our students who can lead the tide tomorrow. It's a person who sees, who predicts, who is engaged in the tide and who wants to make a declaration of the future that belongs to our generation. It's really a long way to reach my goal, maybe a lifetime journey. And I need more effects to qualify myself for this declaration.

  The book is divided into five parts. Part I is already finished and you can download it from the external link below. It is about mabi, a bootless reward system run by our teacher. Part II is the main part of the novel. It's a transition between junior high and high school, a contract between the state before and after the high school entrance exam. In a way, it's a complaint and criticism of the current education system in China, even our concerns about society, the times and humanity. Part III is the fake story of my girlfriend and me. Part IV is a three-day documentary record after an exam in Senior 1. It is almost finished. Part V is some selected essays written by myself.

  Gone are the days when I have enough free time. The college entrance exam is approaching and I have to spend more time studying to prepare for it. I will spend little time on the novel this year. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to finish my novel in the summer holidays next year, when I'll have graduated from high school. --Or I won't finish it forever.
